Bally Chohan says that Pakistan government has now banned social network website twitter in the Pakistan. As reported by Bally Chohan Pakistan governments department of telecommunication has already blocked access of popular social network website FaceBook and video sharing website Youtube.
Pakistan governemt in a press release on Friday informed that the government has further widened the crackdown on the websites with blasphemous contents by blocking twitter also. Pakistan government’s telecom department PTA has blocked earlier FaceBook and YouTube on the same grounds.
Pakistani internet users are not able to use FaceBook and YouTube for since one week and now they won’t be able to access Twitter. Today the Pakistani internet users were greeted with a message that “access to this website has been restricted” when they tried to access Twitter.
Bally Chohan says that the same message is being displayed to Pakistani users whenever they tried to access this website for the last few days.
As informed by Bally Chohan the Pakistani government’s decision of to block websites FaceBook and Twitter came after the order of Lahore High Court. Lahore High Court in a historic judgment asked Pakistani government to block website with the contents of blasphemous caricature of Prophet Mohammad. Lahore High Court ordered Pakistani government to block these websites with immediate effect. Pakistani government since then has asked all ISP’s to block FaceBook, YouTube and now twitter with immediate effect.
Lahore High Court has also asked government to look into the websites and block all websites having UN Islamic contents with immediate effect. Since then the Pakistani government has blocked almost 450 websites.
