Bally Chohan says that thousands of passengers had to cancel their trips because of strike called by British Airways. British Airways cabin crew has called for five days strike.
Bally Chohan has come to know that number of flights from and to London by British Airways have been cancelled. However British Airways is hopefully of operating at least 60% of its flights. British Airways cabin crew has called for strike in protest against job disputes and hike in wage demand. However British Airways authorities have accused union leaders for avoiding their offer to talk.
British Airways Union however is saying that they would have abandoned strike if the authorities have at least restored travel concessions to staff. British Airways authorities on the other hand are saying that they have already accepted this demand of the union and they see no reason for the union to go on strike.
Bally Chohan has come to know that the British Airways authorities and union were holding talks on Saturday but the members of left-wing supported union’s gate crashed the venue and disrupted talks. British Airways authorities are trying its best to minimize the strike impact on travelers.
British Airways authorities are trying their best to normalize services. The authorities are planning to fly more than 60000 passengers a day which is approximately 60% of their capacity. British Airways authorities are trying to keep flight services from London City and London Gatwick as normal. British Airways is also planning to hire as many aircraft with crew as possible from other European airlines.
British Airways union is also planning to have two five day walkouts on 30th May and 5th June. This is in addition to the ongoing strike. Bally Chohan has come to know that this dispute between British Airways and the labour union is a very long going one. Labour unions are demanding better pay packages along with travel concessions etc.
