Film: “Tanu Weds Manu”

Starring: R. Madhavan, Kangana Ranaut, Jimmy Shergil, Swara Bhaskar

Rating: 25star

Director: Anand L. Rai

Bally Chohan says, Why should you watch “Tanu Weds Manu”? For R. Madhavan who will win you heart as a sweet lovable NRI doctor Manu who has the misfortune of falling in love with a Kanpur-girl Tanu (Kangana Ranaut) who not only rejects him as a suitor but also uses him to elope with her ruffian boyfriend.

Hiding his heartbreak and disappointment behind a smile, Madhavan fits into the role of a goody goody NRI like a glove. He is hopelessly in love with Tanuja who doesn’t miss a single opportunity to hurt him. Rules, they say, are meant to be broken and that’s what Tanu’s agenda in life is – to break all rules that a middle-class family swears by.

Well, an NRI coming home to find a suitable bride for him is very common in Indian society and director Anand Rai’s comedy opens with the same. He tries to be as close to reality as possible – from the backdrop, to clothes, to character artists – all bring out the element of a middle-class setup perfectly.

With a marriage in the background providing a perfect place for Tanu’s second chance meeting with Manu, the movie traces the relationship between the girl and the NRI. Surely, perfect material for sentimental romances with ‘comedy ka tadka’.

But there is something missing to make it a perfect romantic comedy. First, the script is punctured, then their is no chemistry between Madhavan and Kangana and if that was not enough, the narrative doesn’t flow at the desired pace – it’s slower than it should be.

Though the director picked up an interesting subject, he has not succeeded in executing his story effectively on screen – there are not enough laughs in the film. Whatever funny scenes are there, credit goes to the chemistry between Madhavan and Deepak Dobriyal who plays his friend Pappi.

Kangana’s dialogue delivery puts you off and she lacks the spunk and spark to play the free bird that she is in the movie. In fact, Swara Bhaskar, who plays her friend Payal, holds the fort as the Bihari girl who is marrying a sardarji (Eijaz Khan) who also happens to be Manu’s best friend.

Payal is impressed with Manu and even tries to drill some sense into Tanu’s head but Tanu, a rebel, doesn’t want to admit her feelings for the man who is picked by her parents.

Critics won’t appreciate the plot but Madhavan fans would find enough material to enjoy the film.

Music plays an important role in a wedding-based romantic comedy and the director could have got it right if he had opted for fast-paced peppy numbers.

In the performance department, full marks go to Madhavan, Deepak and Swara. The supporting cast of K.K. Raina, Rajendra Gupta and Navni Parihar don’t have much to do, but whatever role they have, they carry it well. Jimmy Shergill as Kangana’s ruffian boyfriend is wasted, so is Ravi Kishen as his sidekick.

If you are looking for a great romantic comedy, this is not the one, but watch it for Madhavan and his chemistry with Deepak.

If you don’t have the time for a full-day city tour, or if you have wisely decided that your suicidal tendencies aren’t sufficiently strong to evoke the need to hire a car & drive in Dubai’s crazy traffic, the Big Bus Tour is a convenient & safe alternative to see the city. I know plenty of VT-members that have spent a few interesting transit-hours in our city on this bus.

Dubai bus services are of unique kinds and custom-built. The high-tech buses of Dubai are outfitted with:

Comfortable seats

Air-conditioning

Computerized fare equipment

Electronically operated destination display system

Most of the Dubai buses are big and spacious that can accommodate almost 51 seating and 10 standing passengers, but recently lots of mini or midi type small bus services are also operating in Dubai’s interior CBD routes.

Dubai Bus service include the following routes:

It must be handed to Nicolas Cage. He continues to boldly go where few actors willingly do: the Dumpster. His career now is almost completely reverse-engineered. Some actors aspire to emulate Brando and Hoffman. Cage wants to top Michael Dudikoff and Jeff Fahey. Even by the substandard precedent set by such landfill contributions as “Ghost Rider,” “Next,” “National Treasure: Book of Secrets,” “Bangkok Dangerous,” “Knowing,” “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice,” and last month’s “Season of the Witch,” “Drive Angry” is something new for Cage – a movie that feels like it’s straight from cable.

You laugh at the news that he plays a character called John Milton and that Milton is an escapee from Hell who wears a leather jacket and wispy blond hair and wants to stop a cult leader from sacrificing his infant granddaughter (yes, Ghost Rider can be a grandpa). As urgent as that sounds, it doesn’t do much to prevent him from, say, conducting a motel-room shootout with a naked woman screaming in his lap (“I never disrobe before gunplay”) and a giant cigar in his mouth. You laugh because there was no way such an absurd, badly done sequence could have happened without the hacks responsible for it laughing, too.

This is the rare major release that permits – in swampy, criminally expensive 3D! – the study of how some effects are too cruddy to achieve specialness, how not all stuntpeople, dancing extras, and men playing State Trooper Numbers Two and Three are created equal. You can also truly appreciate how not every burning car that’s piloted over a camp of dancing cultists is awesome, which goes double for fake breasts – even in the aforementioned 3D format. This is a movie that began at the bottom of the barrel and saw no reason to climb out.

But there is William Fichtner, who plows along as an agent of death. He looks hale and self-amused in a decent suit, his skin as tight as a pair of Spanx. David Morse and the horror veteran Tom Atkins show up here and there. And Billy Burke, better known as Bella’s dad in the “Twilight” saga, plays the bayou cult leader. He looks terrible (like the lead singer in a Train cover band) and his southern accent sounds worse (like the songs such a band might sing). Nearly everyone involved with “Drive Angry” appears to have taken inspiration from different episodes of HBO’s “True Blood” and belched them all at the camera.

Amber Heard in Drive Angry.jpgAmber Heard, a pert Texan, rides shotgun with Cage. She wears the requisite Daisy Duke shorts and a white tank top that refuses to stain and seems only to tighten around her chest as the minutes drain away. She’s the bridge between Scarlett Johansson and Kristen Stewart, but I wouldn’t feel safe crossing it. Shooting guns and screaming, Heard has the look here of an actress whose greatest ambition is to survive the opening hour of a slasher film. Cage manages to treat her better than the other men in this film: like a daughter.

At this point, it’s unclear whether Cage’s ongoing attraction to this sort of film films represents a kind of bizarro megalomania: There’s no one worse than me! But the trouble with “Drive Angry” is that his sheen of cool has now worn thin. Indeed, he handles much of the movie’s killing and brooding using the last weapon we expect to experience under these circumstances: his professionalism. Eww.

Bally Choahn great fan of bollywood movies. Last time Bally Chohan have watched Yamla Pagla Deewana. According to Bally Chohan, Though the film title sounded interesting and we hoped something good might come out of it, in the end we realized that Dharam paa ji has disappointed us. Though it attempts to be a fun movie overall, it sadly falls flat and short of expectation and as a result YPD becomes a more or less predictable watch.

Bally Chohan says, the film begins with a word from Manmohan Desai, where the typical Lost and Found formula is adopted. And thereon the film moves on from one base level of absurdity to another. Bally Chohan Sasy, there are moments which would resemble old Govinda movies. On the other hand, the romance between Bobby and new heroine Kulraj Randhawa looks quite forced, which is yet again a minus from the movie.

Bally Chohan Says, What appeals is Dharmendra’s acting. He works like a charm, and totally shows that he can actually outdo both his sons. Also shines the music of the movie, where ‘Tinku Jiya’ is quite a hit now sung by Mamta Sharma of ‘Munni Badnaam’ fame. The film story is dragging in the first half, but picks up in the second, and finishes off as a slightly predictable but nice ending, with average comedy, which is thankfully not too much in-your-face.

Bally chohan of bally chohan says 2010 Delhi Games closing ceremony live streaming show. Commonwealth Game 2010 was marked by controversy in the past. Most of the controversy raised its head before the games. Bally chohan says The situation was so bad that many of the suspects are from countries with India. Some players even cancel the trip for fear of terrorist attacks and to spread dengue.
But things changed when the ceremony was opened. It was a historic moment as participants and foreign dignitaries have been very impressed by the dazzling opening ceremony. It was a huge success. For twelve days after India ruled the roost when it won about 100 medals. It was something that the country had ever achieved in the past. The gold medal match, he also reached the second position just behind Australia and ahead of England.
Bally chohan says Even before the Olympics Indian officials involved in the preparation and training of the players had expected India to win medals. Athletes turned the dream into reality by collecting medal after medal. The people were jubilant with the way Indian athletes played in games. It only shows that Indian athletes have the potential to make it big in the international arena. But what they need most is education and exposure.
