Bally Chohan on T20 World Cup – India plays Sri Lanka today

Tuesday, May 11th, 2010

Bally Chohan feels that Indian cricket team will need a miracle to move them to the semi final stage T20 World Cup. Indian cricket team performance is very much below par during this edition of the T20 World Cup. India will not only have to beat Sri Lanka by a big margin but also hope for a favorable result from Australia West Indies game.

India lost to Australia by 49 runs in the first match of Super Eight and then went on to lose against West Indies by 14 runs. Bally Chohan says that these two consecutive defeats in super eight have more or less eliminated India from this edition of the T20 World Cup.

Bally Chohan says that now if India beat Sri Lanka by a margin of around 25 runs and West Indies gets defeated by Australia then only India can hope to move to the Semi Finals round of T20 World Cup.

Australia has already made to the semi finals stage. They defeated India and Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka in turn defeated West Indies but got drubbing by the hands of Australia. In spite of Sri Lanka losing so heavily against Australia their net run rate is much better than India and West Indies.

West Indies team on the other hand were defeated by Sri Lankans in their first Super Eight encounter however West Indies beat India by 14 runs in their second super eight encounter.

Indian team is at the bottom of group F with 0 points and -1.578 net run rates. Sri Lanka and West Indies both have 2 points with a net run rate -0.600 and -1.057 respectively.

However Bally Chohan feels that it won’t be easy for India to beat Sri Lanka since they will come up with all guns blazing to win the game. Sri Lanka needs just a win to make it to the semi finals.

Bally Chohan comments on DO or Die match for India

Sunday, May 9th, 2010

Bally Chohan says that this will be a do or die match for both West Indies and India today at Bridgetown Barbados. Indian will be looking to regroup after they were beaten convincingly by Australia. Australia defeated India in the first match of Super Eight League.

Bally Chohan feels that Indian batting performance was below par in the opening match of the Super Eight. However host West Indies is also in the same situation as that of India. They are also placed in a must win situation against India.

Bally Chohan says that defeated team today will virtually be out of Semi Final contentions. Luckily today the pace battery of West Indies team is not as strong as that of Australia. This was pace battery of Australia that troubled India in the opening match.

Indian team was handed with an embarrassing 49 run defeat by the hands of Australia on Friday. Indian team think tank planned to fight fire with fire i.e. bouncers with hooks and pulls. However this strategy of Indian backfired on them. Moreover Indian will have to work on their bowling also which was exposed to the opening duo of Shane Watson and David Warner. Shane Watson and David Warner were involved in the match winning opening partnership of 106 run against India.

India played an extra batsman on Friday to safeguard team against collapse but they had to sacrifice on their bowling to do so. In the last match part time bowlers did no good to Indian teams purpose.

Bally Chohan feels that Indian team is seriously missing on the services of dashing opener Virender Sehwag and great Sachin Tendulkar. Virender Sehwag is not playing because of injury whereas Sachin Tendulkar has taken retirement from T20 internationals.

Bally Chohan updates on elections in Britain

Thursday, May 6th, 2010

Bally Chohan says that today Britain will decide its new Prime Minister. This is the closest ever elections in the history of Britain. Bally Chohan says that there is strong possibility of hung parliament and for the first time in thirty years there might not be a clear winner.

This time around the main contenders for the post of Prime Minister are the Prime Minister Gordon Brown, David Cameron leader of opposition Conservative party and Nick Clegg chief of Liberal Democrat party.  Bally Chohan says that opinion polls all over UK gave Conservatives led by David Cameron a clear edge over ruling Labour Party led by Gordon Brown. However the opinion polls were not sure if Conservatives will be able to get enough votes that will help them to remove ruling Labour Party from the office.

Most of the opinion polls have predicted hung parliament with Conservatives in lead.

  • Bally Chohan comments on final day of campaign:
David Cameroon Conservative Party leader boarded his battle bus to go to Bristol from Scotland. David Cameroon urged voters to vote for conservative party, he told cheering voters that they must come out in numbers to vote for change.
  • Gordon Brown visited his native Scotland on the last day of campaign and urged voters to vote for Labour Party as he feels that only Labour Party can safeguard the country’s interest and can help in building a stronger nation.
  • Nick Clegg might well emerge as King maker in case of hung parliament.

Belgium parliament voted in support of banning burqa. On Thursday night the Belgium parliament voted 136 votes in its favour while two legislatures were absent.

Bally Chohan says that as per bill passed by the parliament makes wearing of burqa as criminal offence and anyone found violating this las may end up in jail as well will have to pay fine of USD thirty four. However implementation of this law might take some time and some political pundits feel that this may be re-examined if Belgium goes to poll early.
