Bally Chohan Box Office Report – Kites

Bally Chohan says that as expected Kites has received tremendous opening worldwide. Hrithik Roshan and Barbara Mori starrer Kites has opened to packed houses all over the world. However the movie has received mixed response from Indian audience and critics.

Kites is being distributed worldwide by Reliance Big Pictures and Reliance owned Big Pictures has released Kites in a very big way. A total of 2000 prints in India and 500 overseas prints were released simultaneously by Reliance Big Pictures. Some of the multiplexes in India are having almost thirty shows per day of Kites.

Bally Chohan feels that Kites was most awaited bollywood movie of the year 2010 and Reliance Big Pictures is trying its best to take full advantage of this. Reliance Big Pictures, distributer of Kites is making sure that the movies Kites reaches each and every corner of India by screening almost 10000 shows all over India.

Bally Chohan says that the hype created by the producers of Kites was extraordinary which helped in getting bumper opening for the movie. However the response it got from media as well as audience is not encouraging.

As reported by Bally Chohan is his film review earlier this week the movie Kites lacks good storyline. The story of Kites in a way is outdated story.  Music has always been the highlight of Rakesh Roshan movies however the music of Kites is very disappointing. Bally Chohan has rated music of Kites as average. However the curiosity factor went in favour of the movie and it got tremendous opening. As per some media reports Kites has grossed almost twenty one crores on the first day of its release itself.  This is considered to be the second highest opening by an Indian movie in India after 3 Idiots.  Not only in India but the film has opened to packed houses overseas also which in itself is a record.

Now the producers of Kites have started to project Kites as a movie made for overseas and multiplex audience. The movie has almost ninety percent of dialogue in English and Spanish which makes it difficult to be popular amongst masses in India. Kites is the first Indian movie to made it to the number 5 on the UK box office report and has been ranked at number 10 on the US Box office report.

Bally Chohan however feels that the response in India is not very encouraging for Kites. Box Office pundits are expecting the collections to go down drastically from Monday onwards. The only thing in its favour is that there is no big release slated for the next weak and so there is no chance of any competition. Kites is considered to be very expensive movie so the box office collections in second week only will determine its fate.

Hollywood version of Kites ‘Kites remix’ is also slated to release next week.  Kites Remix is the edited version of Kites and is being made for overseas audience.
